January 2016 KS My Stitch Crochet Guild Meeting

Monday January 18, 2016 was our first meeting of the new year. What a great turn out we had and we have 4 new members. Our new set of officers have got quite the year lined up for us. Starting with the new exciting programs at every monthly meeting, the Crochet in Public outings planned on every last Tuesday of the month (where we will be meeting at different places all over Wichita), a monthly electronic newsletter, members are given discounts to several craft stores and a restaurant, a monthly challenge (where at the end of the year if you participate) you will have a chance at a grand prize that you will not want to miss out on. We are still continuing on with our purple hat charity project and have included the red hat charity project as well. The guild will also be a drop off point for the Bridget Cradles project. As always our members enjoy showing and sharing our completed and works in progress projects. And January was no different.

Doreen is styling in her matching coat, hat, and fingerless mitts.

Kim is working hard on her circular crochet.

This is the start of Kim’s temperature blanket and

here are her colors.

Sherri wore her newest hat creation.

Eileen has made another crochet ensemble for a doll for one of her friends.

Susie is almost done with the cabled band of the hat class she took on the Saturday before.

Susan has finished her double knitted scarf and

she completed the zoo animal stack.

Lesa brought along the crocheted socks she made for her son and

she is making him a cabled scarf with the left over yarn from the socks.

Tamara made the slippers from the February 2016 Crochet World.

She also made a fringed Boho top made from a Crochetrend pattern.

Tamara also tried her hand at the tartan plaid stitch and made a large washcloth.

Tamara completed this shawl that was a free pattern from the Cascade website.

Here she is modeling an infinity scarf made from chunky yarn.

And another one from beautiful jewel tones.

Tamara also made a newborn set of hat and booties.

Sandy brought along some of her latest creations.

Sandy wanted to remind everyone to make sure that you remove your stitch markers before sewing things up.

Here’s Susan modeling her double knitted scarf. What a talented lady she is.

Here’s Susan’s cabled scarf that she had started at the morning meeting.

Betty made some washcloths and

a pair of very cute baby booties.

Ana has been working on shawls and

here’s another one.

Ana is modeling one of her newest hat creations.

Mara looks lovely in her fluffy crocheted sweater coat.

Mara is one of our newest members and she has been working on one of the newest patterns out there on the internet.

I just loved the way the braided scarf laid around her neck.

Kim wore her lovely knitted socks.

Of course I always bring out the fun in these ladies when I ask them to show me more. 🙂

Jillian has been very busy crocheting a hat,

scarf,

washcloth or scarf,

and a fluffy blanket.

Deb made some scrubbies,

headbands,

arm warmers,

and the cutest frog hat I’ve ever seen. Sorry Deb; I can not seem to turn this photo up the right way here on WordPress.

Sheila is working on two blankets; one is her temperature blanket and

another one for a baby.

Staci is starting a temperature blanket as well. I love the colors that she has chosen.

Catherine has been working hard on her American Girl Doll clothes of dresses and sweater sets.

Catherine also started the cabled hat that was a class at her shop the Saturday before the meeting.

Catherine was also sharing these cute little cases that her business partner makes and sells for either crochet hooks or crayons.

Guild Reminder

Just a little reminder that the first meeting of the year is tomorrow, January 18, 2016. Remember we are going to be learning how to do a basic cable stitch, so bring an I or J hook and your worsted weight yarn of choose. Also a reminder that your yearly dues will be due tomorrow, so don’t forget to bring your money for that. I am looking forward to seeing all your smiling faces.

  It’s a New Year, so that means dues start over. Dues are still $25 per year, BUT this year we are trying something different and offering you a discount if you want to pay for 2 years. Instead of $50 you can pay $45. (this is just an option)

  Remember to bring your money for your dues and pay by the end of the January evening meeting to get your name into a drawing for a really cool prize bag filled with lots of crochet things worth $100.

  Bring any projects that you have completed or working on to share with the group.

  Door Prizes

  The guild is always accepting door prizes, so if you have something that is crochet related in your stash of goodies and no longer need and would like to donate to our door prizes, please feel free to do so. Donations are strictly voluntary. And remember they should be something that you would like to receive yourself.

Crayon Pillow Challenge-2013

This was a very fun challenge. We each drew three crayons from a sack and had to incorporate all three colors into a pillow. Looking forward to more challenges similar to this in 2016.
