First monthly afghan joining at Twist

As we announced at the January meeting, the guild will be hosting a charity afghan joining meeting each month on the Saturday following our regular guild meetings. We had our first one this month and we had several people come and help us.

We will meet each month at 1:30 p.m. on the designated Saturday at Twist. As you can see, Shelly has a comfortable area for us to sit, chat, work, have a cup of coffee or a can of pop, and continue the work on the afghans we are making for community organizations.

It’s fun and relaxing, and chance to visit with other members of the guild, and you can drop in for as long as you want.

So, mark your calendar for the third Monday of the month, in February that is Feb. 18, for our guild meeting (also at Twist) and the following Saturday, in February that is Feb. 23, for afghan joining. We’d love to see you there!

January meeting — location change!

Hi all,

Just a reminder that our January meeting is coming up! We will meet from 10 a.m. to noon or from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. (or both if that’s your pleasure!) on Monday, Jan. 21. Please note that our meeting location has changed and we will be meeting at Twist yarn shop in the Delano district. The address is 607 W. Douglas, and we enter through the back door. Shelly has graciously invited us to enjoy the ambience of her shop and surround ourselves with loveliness and comfort. Let’s replace these faces of people enjoying her lounge are with those of our lovely group! Doesn’t this look like a wonderful place to hold our meetings? Can’t wait to see you all there!

PS: Please remember to bring a few 8″ squares to donate to the victims of the California wildfires. We don’t even have to assemble them . . . they’ll do that for us in California! I will be sending everything we have collected after this month’s meeting. Thanks for your help!

New meeting location and a great Dec. meeting

We had a wonderful, if delayed (due to weather) meeting in December. Thanks to everyone who showed up and participated in the gift exchange and brought yummy goodies to eat. Thanks also to all of you who voted for your new board. We are: Tamara Gonzales (left) president, Rosina Smith (right) vice president, and Cori Dodds (center) secretary/treasurer.

We also have made arrangements for a new meeting location, but it is still central to most everyone and only a few blocks from the senior center. Shelly at Twist has most graciously offered the use of her store and lounge area to us as a meeting location! We are so grateful to her and so excited! It is a lovely spot, well-lit, and with a marvelous stitching atmosphere. We will begin meeting at Twist for our January meeting.

Our own Bob Smith (no relation to Rosina) is seen here crocheting one of his famous strawberries. He has made 2025 of them over the past seven years. Many of us have been the beneficiary of his skill and have a strawberry or two hanging in our kitchens.

Finally, we have a couple of charity projects going. First, for local community organizations we are crocheting 9-inch squares for afghans. Linda made several of them, and they are marvelous. We have quite a large pile of 9-inch squares, and will be announcing a time to meet and join them soon.

We are also collecting 8-inch squares for the victims of the California wildfires. They do not need to be joined before we send them and I would like to have a nice-size stack to send off this month. So, dig into your stashes and throw together a couple of squares to bring to the January meeting.

We’ll see you at Twist on Jan. 21!
