Look at our windows!

Shelly gave the windows of Twist yarn shop over to the KS My Stitch chapter of CGOA. Tamara headed up the effort to collect items that exhibit some of the many ways crochet has influenced home and fashion design over the decades.
There are all kinds of great things in the windows, crocheted and vintage.
Doesn’t it just make you feel at home?
Isn’t the old bowling bag awesome? And how about the ripple afghan?
Don’t you just want to go in the store, get a crochet hook and some great yarn and start stitching away? I sure do. Shelly does such a great job of supporting crocheters, and we just can’t tell her how much we appreciate it! (Oh, and the afghan on the bed in this shot is one of the ones the guild made for a local charity.)

February meeting

I only got one picture taken before my camera battery died! The theme for the month was hearts and Valentine’s, and look at the great doilies Linda Cooley made. Her thread crochet always amazes me.

We had a great time with Tamara sharing some of her way of thinking about embellishing everything in sight with crochet. She has a great eye for knowing how to add crochet and make something that would otherwise be plain into something really great.

So mark you calendar for our March meeting. We will meet at Twist on the third Monday in March, which is St. Patrick’s day. So wear your green and bring your Irish crochet or something about Irish crochet.

And remember that March is National Crochet Month. We have crochet-outs at Towne East Mall and Towne West Mall. Here are the dates, locations and times:

March 1 and 8 at Towne West from noon to 3 p.m.;
March 22 at Towne East 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and
March 29 at Towne East from noon to 3 p.m.
Please try to join us at the mall food court on at least one of these dates.

FEBRUARY MEETINGS

Remember we are now meeting at TWIST YARN SHOP, 607 W Douglas. Please use the back door. We have refreshments and drawings for door prizes; if you don’t come, you can’t win. This month’s program will be “Embellishing with Crochet,” by our own famous designer and President, Tamara Gonzales. It will be a terrific program, so bring something you would like to embellish with crochet, and get some fabulous suggestions from Tamara!

Our theme for February is “Valentines,” so bring something for Show and Share that relates to our theme.

Our Slipper Soiree is next Saturday evening, Feb. 23, at 7:00 pm at Rosina’s house. Come in your jammies, bring yarn, hook and your favorite slipper pattern, and we will just have a low-key get-together.

March is NATIONAL CROCHET MONTH!!! Special events are planned to celebrate, so if you don’t yet have your calendar of events, be sure to pick one up at Monday’s meeting.

See you Monday!
