February 2017 Hookin’ on the Highway: Yarns Sold and Told, Martinelli’s, and Dirt Road Daisy

Last Saturday started off with a road trip to Salina to visit their local yarn shop. Of course we were all overly excited to get there and we arrived too early. So we hung out with some of the locals at their friendly coffee shop. ;)

At last it was time for the local yarn shop to open. The shop is called Yarns Sold and Told. We found out from the nice ladies who were working at the shop, that they don't have many crocheters visit their shop.

We were all a little surprised by that, because we all know that crocheters can use any of these yarns to make their crochet projects too.

Anyway, we loved seeing all the varieties of yarn.

I think it is safe to say that all of us were tempted to buy just one more skein of yarn for our stashes. Love you Kaye!

Then it was lunch time, so we headed a few shop fronts down from the yarn shop and landed at Martinelli's.

Then it was off to McPherson and the Old Opera House to meet up with Sarah Ashe who is the designer of beautiful jewelry by Dirt Road Daisy.

I just love the way Sarah displays her pieces. This is an old suitcase that is lined with barn metal and she uses magnets to hold her earrings in place.

Don't you love her cabinets behind her with all that vintagey stuff in them? And the feathers wall hanging?

Sarah commented and said that she had to have some color in her studio one day and decided to paint her doors blue. We all had such a great time hanging out with each other and Sarah.

I especially loved the welcome mat that reminded us all of the crocheted mandalas that some of us have made.

Sarah is a very kind and generous young artist. We loved seeing all her creations and I especially loved that we got to see where she makes her masterpieces. Thank you Sarah for your generosity.

  1. Tamara,
You do such a good job of recording the Guilds’ history in pictures. I can’t wait to see all of them and check out my own picture and whether it does me justice. Thank you for your commitment to KS My Stitch.
    Kaye
